Zanubrutinib and Hair Loss
Zanubrutinib is a medication used to treat mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM). It is a type of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. BTK is a protein that is involved in the growth and survival of B cells, a type of white blood cell. By inhibiting BTK, Zanubrutinib can help to slow the growth of MCL and WM.
Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a common side effect of Zanubrutinib. It can occur in up to 30% of patients taking the medication. The hair loss is typically mild and temporary, and it usually resolves within a few months after stopping treatment.
